We found this gem at the last minute for a 4 night break at half term. We had a self-catering studio, so cannot comment on the breakfast. But the studio was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, and the beds comfortable.
Barbara kindly brought in an extra bed for our son.
The shower in the wet room had good pressure and there was always hot water to shower.
Slapton Manor is perfectly situated in a beautiful setting, in the lovely village of Slapton, close to many attractions such as Bletchley Park, Stoke Bruerne, Althorpe, Northampton shoe museum etc.
Adjoining Slapton Manor is St Botolph Church, tiny but beautiful, 12th century church with magnificent wall paintings.
A one night stop over whilst travelling with American family visiting UK. Barbara and her team were amazing, very attentive and helpful.
Rooms are traditional with lovely beams and stonework. They were well resourced with everything you need. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Beds comfy.
Thank you Barbara and family for such a lovely stop over, my family had a lovely time especially the little ones. We will be back!!
Lovely Country Retreat
We stayed in a self-catering studio, excellent location, clean, well equipped with friendly owners.
Memorable stay at a traditional farmhouse in lovely surroundings
English hospitality is the stuff of legends, at Slapton Manor you can experience it for yourself. Situated in the middle of the Northamptonshire countryside, this is not a farm conversion, like so many, this is a real working farm where traditional rural family welcomes are warmly extended to guests.
The rooms are tastefully designed, well-equipped and thoughtfully furnished. Everywhere is clean. Breakfast is generous, the fridges well stocked and the beds comfortable.
To describe Barbara and her family as accommodating is an understatement – really, NOTHING is too much trouble!
… But there’s more! The family own The New Inn at nearby Abthorpe as well. Not the place to go for “Cordon bleu”, but for good honest pub grub and probably the best prices around, it is a good complement to a memorable stay at a traditional farmhouse in lovely surroundings.
Roomy, comfortable and run by a great team
We stayed there for one night and the owners could not have been more accommodating and helpful. The room and bathroom were both immaculate and the continental breakfast was excellent! We will definitely stay there again.
B&B on the Farm
Very large, quiet and comfortable room. It is a unique environment on a working farm and next to a medieval church. Barbara provided a continental breakfast in our room each day. They have more elaborate breakfasts on the weekends. Great bucolic views in every direction. We were doing genealogical research looking for ancestors in nearby Abthorpe. It was a great location for us.
Stunning Old Country Farm House
I absolutely loved this place. Coming from a country as young as Australia, it was quite an awe-inspiring experience to stay in such an old yet beautifully kitted out studio, and have access to the key to the 12th century church right next door with its extraordinary and well-preserved frescoes still intact. The hosts Barbara and Rob were lovely – make sure to visit the nearby New Inn which they also run – the food is delicious and the servings plentiful. The beds are very, VERY comfortable and the silence at night is wonderful. The continental breakfast was more than adequate with fresh bread and croissants, real coffee (french press), fresh milk, yoghurt, jams etc. Would/will definitely return to this beautiful property.
Absolutely lovely place to stay, the two nights we stayed we walked to the New Inn along a footpath across the fields for some great real ale and equally good food. We had an upstairs room (hayloft) which was very spacious and could accommodate a family of four, with views across the fields and the farmyard area, it also had a small kitchen adjacent to the room. Free WIFI and Internet was also very handy, don’t forget your iPad!
An excellent place to stay
Just returned home after spending an excellent Bank Holiday weekend at Slapton Manor Farm, it was lovely and will definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again. Very friendly and helpful people.
The twin en-suite room was gorgeous, warm controllable heating, comfy beds, white crisp linen throughout and large fluffy bath towels.
I chose to have a continental breakfast in our room one morning, making use of the immaculate kitchenette which suited me fine. As well as cereals and jams tea/coffee in our room, fresh milk, yoghurts, fruit, croissants and bread were also provided.
My son and I opted for the full English the following morning, which was provided in the farmhouse. A beautifully set long table with crisp white linen, lovely china and a fantastic cooked breakfast – we were well fed.
Many thanks to our very busy hostess, Barbara, for such a warm welcome and all the prompt help via emails and phone calls prior to our booking, We have already recommended this lovely B&B to family and friends
Thank you so much for all your help in ensuring that we had the most amazing wedding day! You really went above and beyond everything we expected and you made sure it was stress-free for us. The barn and the whole farm looked beautiful – we really could not have been happier with everything!
